Barefield, Hager Earn Weekly GCAA Softball Honors For April 5

BARNESVILLE, Ga. – Catherine Barefield has been selected the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Player-of-the-Week and Faith Hager has been selected the GCAA Pitcher-of-the-Week for April 5, 2021.

GSC extended its winning streak to 14 games as the Highlanders defeated Andrew College 2-0, 5-2 and East Georgia State College 8-0, 10-2 with Barefield and Hager directly involved in the victories.

Barefield (Cataula, Ga. / Harris Co. HS) hit .455 with two home runs, one double, five RBI, .571 on-base percentage and a perfect fielding percentage in the four games played.

Meanwhile, Hager (Conyers, Ga. / Heritage HS) posted a pair of wins and a save in 14 innings of work in the circle. Hager didn't allow a run while striking out 11 and no walks.
