Barnesville, GA - The Gordon State Highlanders finished off a stretch of 3 consecutive home matches with a 10-0 region win over the Andrew College Tigers. Sophomore Brittany Colangelo scored her first of two goals on the night in the 24th minute by finishing a cross provided by sophomore Sydney Stephens. The Highlanders wasted little time in doubling their lead in the 29th minute as freshman Stephanie Hahn delivered a driven ball across the goal mouth that was slotted home coolly by sophomore Kennedy McNab for McNab's first of two goals on the night. The first half came to a close with the Highlanders leading 2-0.
During the second half Gordon State's constant ball movement and persistent defensive pressure proved to be too much for a hardworking Tiger team. In addition to Colangelo and McNab scoring a pair, freshman GG Scott scored her first two goals of the season. Others scoring goals for the Highlanders included sophomore Alex Chapman and a trio of freshmen Jersie Stephens, Gaby Arellano, and Jennifer Beharie.
The win elevated the Gordon State's overall record to 5-1-1 including a GCAA Region 17 record of 4-0-1. The Highlanders will look to remain in first place in the region as they travel to ABAC Saturday, September 21 at 5:00.
