Men's Hoops Picked To Finish 7th In GCAA

The Gordon State College men's basketball team has been picked to finish seventh out of nine schools in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Conference (GCAA) preseason poll prior to the upcoming 2021 season.

The GCAA, which represents Region 17 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), will play a spring-only schedule due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and each team is limited to a maximum of 22 regular season games.

Central Georgia Technical College, defending champions from the 2019-2020 season, has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to return to the top spot in 2021 in voting conducted exclusively by the head coaches in the GCAA.

CGTC collected eight of the nine first-place votes while Georgia Highlands College earned one first-place vote and was second in the preseason poll.

South Georgia State College came in third place while Andrew College (4th), Albany Technical College (5th), South Georgia Technical College (6th), Gordon State College (7th), East Georgia College (8th) and Southern Crescent Technical College (9th) rounded out the voting.

Gordon State welcomes back head coach Bruce Capers in his eighth season leading the Highlanders, who begin the 2021 season on Saturday, January 23, hosting the American Basketball Institute at 1 p.m. ET in the Student Activity and Recreation Center.

GSC finished the 2019-2020 campaign with a 9-18 overall record and 7-9 (6th place) in the GCAA.
