Zaxby's-Gordon State Student-Athlete Honor Roll For February 8-14

 

 

 

BARNESVILLE, Ga. – Highlanders' Athletics is honored to announce the establishment of the Zaxby's-Gordon State Student-Athlete Honor Roll for the 2021 spring season, which will feature men's basketball, baseball, softball and women's soccer.

Throughout the spring, each head coach will nominate a student-athlete from his or her sport to be represented on the honor roll, which will highlight academic and athletic accomplishments for the seven-day week of Monday through Sunday.

For the week of February 8-14, here is the Zaxby's-Gordon State Student-Athlete Honor Roll:

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Sophomore point guard JahNile Hill (Manchester, Ga. / Manchester HS). In three games last week, JahNile scored 19 points and dished out three assists in a one-point home loss to Albany Tech; had 25 points, four steals and three assists in a one-point overtime loss at Albany Tech; and 16 points and three assists in a one-point home win over Southern Crescent Tech. JahNile currently leads the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association in scoring at 19.3 points-per-game.

SOFTBALL: Sophomore infielder Taylor McClendon (McDonough, Ga. / Ola HS). In two games on February 9 at Southern Union State Community College (Ala.), Taylor hit for a .500 average with three runs scored and had a .571 on-base percentage. Taylor also had one putout, three assists and no errors in both games (shortstop and second base). Taylor was nominated for GCAA Player-of-the-Week.

BASEBALL: Sophomore pitcher Trey Felt (Lawrenceville, Ga. / Prince Avenue Christian School). Trey pitched 4.2 innings and picked up the win as GSC knocked off Southern Union State Community College (Ala.) 4-2 on February 12. Trey allowed just one earned run while striking out six and walking one in the Highlanders' road victory.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: Regular season begins on April 2.

The Gordon State College Department of Athletics is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA). Gordon State College competes in NJCAA Division I in the sports of Women's Soccer (Fall), Men's Basketball (Fall/Spring), Softball (Spring) and Baseball (Spring). Gordon State College is located in Barnesville, Ga., approximately 60 miles south of Atlanta and 35 miles northwest of Macon.
