GCAA Postseason Update On The Highlanders

BARNESVILLE, Ga. – Here's a quick update on Gordon State College Athletics as the softball, baseball and women's soccer teams compete in Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) / NJCAA Region 17 postseason action.

GSC Softball (32-11 overall, 21-3 GCAA)

Second-round GCAA postseason tournament games vs. East Georgia State in Barnesville have been moved from Monday, May 10 to Tuesday, May 11 at 4 and 6:30 p.m. ET. An if-necessary Game 3 will be played on Wednesday, May 12 at 1 p.m. ET.

With a series win over No. 4 seed East Georgia State, No. 1 seed GSC would advance to the championship series of the GCAA postseason tournament on Friday and Saturday, May 14-15 at Strong Rock Christian School in Locust Grove, Ga.

GSC Baseball (30-20 overall, 19-11 GCAA)

No. 2 seed GSC dropped its opening GCAA postseason tournament game on Sunday as No. 3 seed Andrew College took a wild 10-9 win in 10 innings over the Highlanders. GSC battled back from an early 7-1 deficit and took the game into extra innings when the Tigers finally secured victory in the 10th inning and advanced into the winner's bracket.

GSC now moves on to an elimination game to face No. 1 seed Georgia Highlands College, which dropped a 14-7 decision to No. 4 seed East Georgia State on Sunday. GSC and GHC will meet on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. ET in Cuthbert, Ga., while Andrew and EGSC battle in the winner's bracket at 11:30 a.m. ET before the GSC-GHC game.

GSC Women's Soccer (6-3 overall, 5-3 GCAA)

GSC completed its spring 2021 regular season with a 1-0 win on the road at ABAC on Saturday. The Highlanders finished in third-place with a 5-3 mark in GCAA play and will travel to Georgia Military College on Sunday, May 16 to take on the No. 2 seed Bulldogs in a GCAA tournament semifinal at a time to be announced.

GMC won both regular-season meetings by scores of 3-2 in Barnesville and 3-0 in Milledgeville.
