GSC Breaks Four-Game Losing Streak With Win Over SCTC

AMERICUS, Ga. – JahNile Hill exploded for a career-high 39 points and DeAndre Hayes came up with a timely steal and connected on a pair of late free throws to send Gordon State to an 85-83 win over South Georgia Technical College here Saturday in Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) men's basketball action.

Hill (Manchester, Ga. / Manchester HS) hit on 16 of 27 field goals, included six three-pointers, as GSC broke a four-game losing streak with the victory.

GSC (5-8 overall, 5-8 GCAA) led 40-39 at the half in a game that had 23 lead changes and nine ties before the Highlanders pulled out the two-point win after trailing by as many as eight to the Jets.

Isaiah Wray (Long Island, N.Y. / Union Grove HS) added 13 points and 10 rebounds while Shawn Smith (Conyers, Ga. / Newton HS) had 11 points for GSC, which was playing its first game since March 9.

Jordan Stephens led SGTC (11-8, 9-4) with 21 points.

The two teams meet again on Tuesday in Barnesville for a 7 p.m. contest.
