GSC Falls To South Georgia Technical College

BARNESVILLE, Ga. – South Georgia Technical College avenged a two-point loss three days earlier with an 87-65 win over Gordon State in Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) men's basketball here Tuesday night.

SGTC had a slim 44-39 lead at halftime, but outscored GSC 43-26 in the second half as the Jets shot a sizzling 52 percent (13 of 25) from three-point land.

Will Johnston led all scorers with 23 points, including five of 10 on three-pointers, and dished out eight assists for SGTC (12-8 overall, 10-4 GCAA), which put all five starters in double-figures scoring.

Varun Danak (Snellville, Ga. / Brookwood HS) led GSC with 18 points, eight rebounds and two steals while JahNile Hill (Manchester, Ga. / Manchester HS) had 15 points and Isaiah Wray (Long Island, N.Y. / Union Grove HS) added 14 points and seven rebounds.

GSC (5-9, 5-9) closes out its regular season on Saturday as South Georgia State comes to Barnesville for a 1 p.m. game. Attendance is limited to GSC players' parents and 50 GSC students through a signup process.

The two teams also play Thursday night at SGSC in a 7:30 p.m. contest.
