GSC Drops Hard-Fought GCAA Quarterfinal Matchup At South Georgia State

WAYCROSS, Ga. – Despite a game-high 25 points from JahNile Hill and a double-double of 20 points and 18 rebounds from Varun Danak, Gordon State's men's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 67-61 decision to South Georgia State College in the quarterfinals of the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) postseason tournament here Tuesday night.

With the victory, the No. 2 seed Hawks advance to the semifinals on Friday and take on No. 3 seed South Georgia Technical College, a 69-64 winner over No. 6 seed Southern Crescent Technical College.

GSC, the No. 7 seed in the tournament, finishes its season at 5-12.

The game was tied at 26-26 at halftime before SGSC built a double-digit lead in the second half.

But GSC continued to battle back and got within three points late in the game before SGSC finally completed the six-point victory.

Hill (Manchester, Ga. / Manchester HS) went 9-for-18 from the field, including five three-pointers, while Danak (Snellville, Ga. / Brookwood HS) hit on 8 of 11 field goals and added two blocks and two assists.

SGSC (20-3) put four players in double-figures, led by Jalen King's 15 points.
