BARNESVILLE, Ga. – Gordon State rode the strong pitching of Faith Hager in a 8-0 six-inning victory over Southern Union State Community College (Ala.) in game one, but watched the Bison rallied for a 6-3 win in the nightcap to wrap up the doubleheader here Thursday.

Hager (Conyers, Ga. / Heritage HS) went all six innings and allowed just three hits while striking out six and walking two in the circle.

Makenzie English (Williamson, Ga. / Pike Co. HS) and Claire Williams (Conyers, Ga. / Heritage HS) led the way at the plate as English went 2-for-2 with a homer, a pair of walks, two runs scored and two RBI while Williams was 1-for-3 with a home run, one walk, a run scored and three RBI.

In the second game, GSC watched a 3-2 lead evaporated in the top of the seventh inning as SUSCC rallied for four runs to secure the win.

GSC had taken a 2-0 lead in the fourth and regained the one-run advantage in the bottom of the sixth after SUSCC had tied in at 2-2 in the top half of the inning.

Barefield homered again to drive in two of the three GSC runs, but the Highlanders (3-3) managed just three hits and stranded 10 baserunners in the loss.
