GSC Softball Opens GCAA Play With Sweep Of ABAC

TIFTON, Ga. – Gordon State Softball continued its hot streak as the Highlanders extended their win streak to six games with a 4-2, 10-2 doubleheader sweep over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College here Wednesday to open Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) play on a positive note.

Chandler Mitchell (Forsyth, Ga. / Locust Grove HS) led the way in the first game by going 3-for-4, including a double, with two RBI while Breanna Lee (Concord, Ga. / Pike Co. HS) was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Faith Hager (Conyers, Ga. / Heritage HS), who is now 7-4 in the circle, continued her solid work in the circle with a complete-game five-hitter while allowing one earned run and striking out nine.

GSC maintained the momentum in the second game as the Highlanders erupted for four runs in the top of the first and added two in the third and four more in the sixth to put the game away.

Kinsey Jones (Aragon, Ga. / Rockmart HS) went 2-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored to lead the GSC offense.

Aleys Buffington (Brooks, Ga. / Whitewater HS) and Camden Steele (Jackson, Ga. / Union Grove HS) each added two hits and two RBI while Abby Foster (McDonough, Ga. / Ola HS) and Makenzie English (Williamson, Ga. / Pike Co. HS) each scored a pair of runs for the Highlanders (13-8 overall, 2-0 GCAA).

Bailey Odom (Danville, Ga. / Bleckley Co. HS) improved to 6-0 in the circle and took advantage of the early lead by holding ABAC (3-9, 0-2) to one earned run on seven hits.
