GSC Closes Out Spring '21 Regular Season with Road Win at ABAC

TIFTON, Ga. -- Gordon State Soccer travelled here on Saturday afternoon and the Highlanders closed out the Spring 2021 regular season by defeating the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) 1-0 in Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) action. 

GSC was in command of the match from the opening whistle as the Highlanders only allowed one shot on goal while taking 13 shots on goal themselves.

While dominating the possession, the Highlanders would have to settle for one goal on the afternoon.

In the 27th minute, freshman Sophia Kotopka (Riverview, Fla. / East Bay HS) fired a free kick from 25 yards out into the side netting for the game winner.

With her 10th goal of the season, Kotopka extended her lead over all GCAA competitors.

With the win, GSC completed the regular season 6-3 overall and 5-3 in GCAA play.

The Highlanders will begin play in the GCAA postseason tournament Sunday, May 16 when they travel to Milledgeville, Ga. to take on the Georgia Military College Bulldogs.
