Six Highlanders Honored on All-Region Teams

BARNESVILLE, Ga. – Gordon State Soccer placed six student-athletes on the 2020 (Spring 2021) Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association / NJCAA All-Region 17 first and second teams.

Haley Reid, a freshman defender from Griffin, Ga. (Spalding High School), and Sophia Kotopka, a freshman midfielder from Riverview, Fla. (East Bay High School), earned their way on the first team.

Meanwhile, four Highlanders were recognized on the second team – including freshman midfielder Sara Schultz from Villa Rica, Ga. (Alexander High School); sophomore midfielder Gabriela Arellano from Miami, Fla. (John A. Ferguson Senior High School; freshman forward Madison Schmucker from Cape Coral, Fla. (Ida S. Baker High School); and freshman forward Bailey Arnold from Bethlehem, Ga. (Apalachee High School).

Congratulations to these six Highlanders, who watched the 2020 fall season delayed until this spring with a limited nine-game regular season and then captured the GCAA championship game along with their fellow GSC teammates with a 2-1 win over South Georgia State College.
