Americus, GA - Gordon State Soccer suffered their first defeat of the season Tuesday night at Georgia Southwestern State University. 
 
The two teams battled to a stalemate in the first half. The Canes opened the scoring in the 32nd minute only for the Highlanders to draw level ten minutes later. Freshman Gabby Cruzado (Cumming, GA / Forsyth Central) assisted sophomore Lourdes Tompkins (Stephens, GA / Oglethorpe County) for her third goal of the early season. 
 
After the intermission the Canes pulled away from GSC scoring three consecutive goals. Cruzado scored her first goal in Gordon State colors in the 85th minute to bring the final score to 4-2.
 
The loss drops Gordon State's record to 1-1. GSC will return to the field Wednesday, Sept 1st when they host the Brewton Parker College reserve team in the Highlander's home opener at 7:00 PM.
