Barnesville, GA - Gordon State Soccer battled to a draw with Middle Georgia State University Thursday night.

The Highlanders slow start allowed the Knights to take an early lead in the 2nd minute. For just the second game in six on the season, GSC conceded a goal. For the duration of the opening half the Highlanders worked their way back into the match.

The second half started more positively for the Highlanders as they put more pressure on the Knights creating multiple opportunities to draw level. Middle Georgia's defense held firm until the 88th minute when freshman Kira Goodwin (Middleburg, FL/ Oakleaf) posted up in front of the Knights penalty box holding off a defender. As she shifted the ball to her left, she played a ball into the stride of sophomore Bailey Arnold (Bethlehem, GA/ Apalachee) who drove the tying goal over the head of the goalkeeper and into the net.

The 1-1 draw brings Gordon State's record to 3-1-2 on the season. They will return to action in less than 24 hours when they host Oxford College of Emory at 7:00 Friday night.
