Barnesville-Gordon State soccer fell to the Eastern Florida State Titans in the NJCAA Southeastern district semi-finals Thursday evening 5-0. The match began on a rough note for GSC as they conceded a goal in the 5th minute. From there, the Highlanders brought energy and fight as they battled the 2nd ranked team in the nation to a standstill until the final minute of the half when the Titans doubled their lead. Just two minutes into the second half GSC conceded a penalty kick that took the score to 3-0. From there Eastern Florida State finished off the match.

The tough loss brought to an end a tremendous season in which the Highlanders finished 16-3-2 overall, 12-0-2 in the conference, and won their second consecutive Region 17 championship. Six sophomores on the team; Brittany Colangelo, Kayleigh McQueen, Kaitlin O'Conner, Brooke Shavers, Sydney Stephens, and Izzy Vazquez were members of the most successful class in Gordon State College soccer history. Over their two years, they amassed a record of 33-5-2 with two Region 17 championships and an appearance in one NJCAA Southeast district final.
